Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of the Volanee website and app (the "Service"), operated by Volanee, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Volanee", "we"). By creating an account you agree to them. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must also agree on your behalf (see the Guardian Consent).
1. What Volanee is
Volanee is a marketplace that connects people who need help with everyday tasks ("Hirers"), organizations that offer volunteer opportunities ("Organizations"), and people aged 13 and over who do that work or volunteering ("Workers"). Volanee is not a party to any job. We do not employ Workers, we do not supervise work, and we do not guarantee the quality, safety, legality or outcome of any job or opportunity.
2. Eligibility and accounts
- Workers must be at least 13. Workers aged 13 to 17 ("Teen Workers") may only use the Service with an approved guardian link, and their guardian may see and control their activity as described in the Guardian Consent.
- Hirers must be at least 18 and must complete identity verification before posting. Hirers who accept a Teen Worker must also complete a background check.
- Organization accounts must be operated by an authorized adult representative who completes identity verification. Organizations are verified by Volanee before their opportunities are labelled verified.
- You must give accurate information, keep it current, and keep your password private. You are responsible for everything done through your account. One person, one account.
- We may refuse, suspend or terminate accounts at our discretion, including for safety reasons, without notice.
3. Verification and background checks
Identity verification is performed through a third-party provider (for example Stripe Identity) or, where unavailable, by document review by Volanee staff. Background checks are performed by a consumer reporting agency (for example Checkr) only after you give the consent described in our Background Check Disclosure and Authorization. Verification does not guarantee anyone's character or conduct; it reduces risk, it does not remove it.
4. Jobs, payments and fees
- A Hirer sets a price when posting. When a Hirer accepts a Worker, the Hirer's payment method is charged for the price plus a service fee (shown before acceptance) and the funds are held ("escrow") by our payment processor.
- The price is fixed at acceptance. Neither party may change it afterwards. Volanee never pays or charges any amount other than what is shown in the app.
- A job starts when the Worker enters the Hirer's start PIN and completes when the Hirer enters the Worker's completion PIN. On completion the price is released to the Worker's balance. Workers keep 100% of the price.
- If a Worker has marked a job done and the Hirer neither enters the completion PIN nor opens a dispute within 48 hours, the funds are released to the Worker.
- Cancellation: a Hirer may cancel an accepted job free of charge more than 24 hours before its start. Inside 24 hours, the service fee is kept and the Worker receives 25% of the price. A Worker who withdraws inside 24 hours of the start receives a strike; three strikes result in suspension.
- Disputes are decided by Volanee in its reasonable discretion based on the evidence in the app (PIN timestamps, messages, photos). Volanee may release funds to either party, in whole or in part. Our decision is final as between the parties for the escrowed amount.
- Volunteer opportunities carry no payment. Verified volunteer hours are entered by the Organization and Volanee does not certify their accuracy beyond that.
- Payouts are made through Stripe Connect to a bank account controlled by the Worker or, for Teen Workers, by their guardian. Optional instant payouts carry a fee shown at the time.
5. Conduct
You agree to the Community & Safety Guidelines, which are part of these Terms. In particular you will not: share contact details or payment handles before acceptance, arrange payment outside the Service for a job found through it, misrepresent your identity or age, post anything illegal or unsafe, or contact a Teen Worker outside the app.
6. Youth work rules
For Workers under 18 the Service enforces the limits in the Youth Work Policy: no single job over 4 hours, no work ending after 8:00 PM on a school night, category age minimums, a guardian-set weekly cap, and guardian approval of every paid job. Hirers are responsible for complying with all federal, state and local child labor laws, including any work permit requirements, for work they arrange. Volanee provides these limits as a tool and does not guarantee compliance.
7. Independent relationship
Workers are independent. Nothing in the Service creates an employment, agency, partnership or joint venture relationship between Volanee and any user, or between Hirers and Workers beyond the specific job. Workers aged 18 and over agree to the Worker Terms.
8. Safety, reporting and cooperation with authorities
Every user can report a problem from any job. Reports involving physical safety, a minor, harassment or threats are treated as critical: the job and its funds are frozen, the reported account may be suspended pending review, and an evidence record is preserved. Volanee will cooperate with law enforcement and may disclose account information, identity verification results and message content in response to lawful requests or where we believe someone is at risk.
9. Content
You keep ownership of what you post and grant Volanee a license to display it within the Service. You are responsible for having the rights to any photo you upload, including the consent of any person shown. We may remove content that breaks these Terms.
10. Disclaimers and limits of liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS". TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VOLANEE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES AND IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY INJURY, LOSS OR DAMAGE ARISING FROM A JOB OR OPPORTUNITY, OR FROM THE ACTS OF ANY USER. VOLANEE'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF $100 OR THE FEES YOU PAID VOLANEE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits; they apply to the extent permitted.
11. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify Volanee against claims arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your breach of these Terms.
12. Disputes with Volanee
Any dispute with Volanee will be resolved by binding individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may bring claims in small-claims court and either party may seek injunctive relief for misuse of the Service. Class actions are waived to the extent permitted by law. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing legal@volanee.app within 30 days of creating your account. These Terms are governed by the laws of Delaware.
13. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms; material changes are announced in the app and require acceptance to continue. Contact: support@volanee.app.
